A steering system is a components, links, etc. that allow a vehicle to follow the desired course. An exception is the case of rail transport, in which railway tracks combined with track switches (also known as “points” in British English) provide a steering function. An engine or serpentine belt-driven accessory turns on the drive pump and directs high-pressure power steering fluid through the high-pressure hose to the inlet side of the power steering gear control valve.
  • Electro-Hydraulic Power Steering – These systems use a brushless electric motor to drive the hydraulic power steering pump, rather than a motor-driven accessory drive or serpentine belt. The system works in the same way and offers the same experience as a traditional hydraulic power steering system.
    Electric Power Steering Or Motor-Driven Power Steering – This system removes hydraulics and pressurized fluid from the system. When the driver turns the steering wheel. A bidirectional brushless permanent magnet motor attached to the steering gear or steering column turns the front wheels. Sensors detect which direction the steering wheel is turned to help steer the steering gear in the right direction.
